L'histoire
Bill choisit de s'associer à Rita Racine, une chanteuse de vaudeville dont la renommée est due au fait qu'elle a embrassé Lindbergh à son atterrissage. Le pilote, semble-t-il, avait gagné un concours pour un rendez-vous avec Rita juste avant que son avion ne s'écrase, et obtînt un sursis de trois semaines pour récupérer son prix.
Ce que ni Bill ni les autres danseurs de marathon ne savent, c'est que Rita est secrètement mariée à Mick Hamilton (Gregory Harrison), le sordide animateur de marathon qui tire les ficelles pour s'assurer que Rita est la gagnante du concours.
