L'histoire
Max Bialystock, producteur de Broadway en déclin. Il trouve un allié improbable en la personne du comptable Leo Bloom, qui émet l'hypothèse qu'on pourrait gagner beaucoup plus d'argent avec un spectacle raté qu'avec un succès. Ensemble, les deux hommes se lancent dans la production de la pire comédie musicale jamais vue à Broadway, avec le pire scénario, le pire réalisateur et le pire casting qu'ils puissent trouver. Le hic, c'est qu'ils vont réunir deux millions de dollars pour financer le spectacle, et ils prévoient de prendre l'argent et de se rendre à Rio lorsque le spectacle se terminera inévitablement après une seule représentation. Dommage pour Bialystock et Bloom, contre toute attente, le spectacle est un succès total !
